Angster organ in the Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Lázi (Hungary)

Lázi is a small village in Western Hungary, on the slopes of the Bakony Mountains. It has 515 inhabitants.
In the Middle Ages, Lázi was an estate of the Pannonhalma Abbey; the village's name is first mentioned in a charter from 1083. The flourishing village was completely destroyed in 1542: the population fled, and the Ottoman army burned the village down. Resettlement began quickly, but Pasha Sinan's army destroyed the village again in 1584; consequently, the village only began to develop again in the 17th century, following the expulsion of the Turks.

The Baroque parish church dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built in 1765. Its furnishings are in the Late Baroque and Zopf styles. The church has been beautifully restored, both inside and out, and is in excellent condition.

The organ was built in 1938 by the József Angster & Son organ factory, based on designs by József Geyer. Although it has only two manuals and 15 stops, the instrument creates the impression of a much larger organ, thanks to its well-conceived specification and the church's excellent acoustics. On this late-Romantic—and essentially mini-symphonic—instrument, one can perform not only liturgical music but also French and German Romantic works, as well as successfully interpret the majority of Baroque compositions.

Sample quality 
The sample sets are available in wave format 48kHz/24bit, stereo, multiple loops (1-8) and multiple releases (3 levels). 
The organ is tuned Equal, a=441 Hz. 
The sample sets are made in three forms: stereo near (front-direct), stereo far (front diffuse) and 6-channel surround (near-far-rear)

The sample set reverb is 2.5 s reflecting the original  acoustics of the church.  (Created IR file for HW5-9 users)

The Trial Versions of the Lazi Organ has a limited compass of C2-C3 (048-c to 060-c) in the pedal, C2-G5 (048-c to 079-g) in the manuals. All other functions work. 
(In the demo version, the extended stops (P/Pommer 8', II/Nasat 2 2/3', and II/Cornet) behave abnormally!)


If you are using one of Hauptwerk versions 5-9, you can install and use the church IR file.


Surround vs Stereo mode

If you do not have a surround sound system, but there is enough memory (RAM), I suggest you also install the surround version. If you activate the front and rear stops too, then you will get a more compact and fuller sound than the simple stereo.
