Kemper & Sohn  Organ from St. Nicolai Church in Westerland (Germany)

Kemper Organ from Westerland
                                                                                             History
Westerland is a seaside resort and a former municipality located on the German North Sea island of Sylt.
The island belongs to Germany. The settlement was founded after the great flood of 1436. The inhabitants of the island used to live from whaling and herring fishing, today it is a major seaside resort, and tourism is the most important source of income for Westerland. Its population is 12,500.

The Lutheran Church of St. Nicholas is the largest church on the island. The three-nave neo-Romanesque church was consecrated in 1908. Originally decorated with Byzantine-style paintings, the church, which also contained an ornately carved pulpit and altar, was significantly redesigned in the 1960s, the walls were painted white and the altar and pulpit were removed. Thus, today the colorful elements are limited to the windows of the church.

The 3-manual, 33-stop organ was built by the Kemper organ factory in 1963. The organ often breaks down these days and its layout does not meet today's needs, so the organ will be demolished in the near future.

The recording for the hauptwerk sample was made by Dr. Dr. Michael Lütge a few years ago. Michael provided me with the entire raw recording, and I created the sound sample from it. This sample is our fourth joint work, and I hope that our collaboration will continue.

The following friends helped me to make and publish the sample set (in alphabetical order): Dominique Dantand, Gérard Lefranc, Nagy István and Jean-Pierre Silvestre. If something's done well, it's thanks to them. Thank you for their work.

Features
Sample quality
The sample sets are available in wave format 44.1 kHz/16 bit, stereo, multiple loops (1-8) and multiple releases (3 levels). a=448 Hz
The sample sets are made in two forms

a. The original front stereo version. This is a fairly dry recording, reflecting the acoustics of the mostly wooden church. I recommend this version for general use, with the addition of optional IR reverb.

b. For hauptwerk v4.2 users who don't have IR reverb, I made a version of the original version with artificial reverb. The reverb is 2 s.

Hauptwerk v4.2 or v5-v9 supported for the Organ Definition Files.
